Reference | Upgrades and planned maintenance#
On the Launchpad Settings page, the Upgrade and maintenance preferences panel contains two distinct categories of events:
Upgrades: This category of event involves moving your Dataiku nodes to a later version. When an upgrade is available, a link to the associated release notes is provided. There are two types of upgrades:
Optional upgrades
An optional upgrade allows you to take advantage of new features at your own pace. You can choose to upgrade immediately or schedule it within a 7-day window. If a later version is released while an upgrade is already pending, Dataiku Cloud will automatically use the latest available version for that scheduled slot.
Scheduled upgrades
For a scheduled upgrade, Dataiku Cloud sets a target date and time for this mandatory update. However, you have the flexibility to move the event to an earlier time that better suits your operations.
Planned Maintenance: This category of event refers to global infrastructure maintenance periods that don’t offer scheduling flexibility. Often, Dataiku Cloud will perform a Scheduled Upgrade during a Planned Maintenance window. While you can adjust the timing of the version upgrade, the maintenance window itself will occur regardless of your space’s Dataiku version.
Warning
When a space administrator chooses a specific schedule for an upgrade, they’re responsible for notifying the users in that space.
You can communicate these windows to users by creating an Alert Banner: From the waffle () menu in the top navigation bar, select Administration > Settings > Alert Banner.
Note
When a space administrator selects a specific upgrade schedule, Dataiku Cloud sends a confirmation email to all space admins. This email includes the chosen date and time, as well as an opt-out link if you don’t wish to receive these notifications.
