Concept | Customizing a Dataiku Govern instance#

The Blueprint Designer and Custom Pages Designer enable you to create a fully tailored version of Dataiku Govern to suit your specific needs.

Blueprint Designer#

In Dataiku Govern, items are built and organized using a standard template by default. However, you may want to tailor fields and workflows to specific use cases, needs, and requirements.

You can do so in the Blueprint Designer. The Blueprint Designer allows admin users to create new items, as well as new templates for items such as business initiatives, projects, bundles, models, and model versions.

Blueprints and blueprint versions#

Let’s review some terminology that is relevant to the Blueprint Designer.

Object

Blueprint

  • Corresponds to a type of item

  • Contains blueprint versions

  • Contains blueprint version migration scripts

Blueprint version

  • Corresponds to a blueprint

  • Determines how item information is organized

  • Also known as an item template

Importantly, almost all item customization happens through creating and editing blueprint versions.

Some uses for custom blueprint versions include:

  • Adjusting item fields

  • Changing an item’s workflow

  • Adding Python code to automate actions

Custom Pages Designer#

To create new pages in your Dataiku Govern instance, you need to use the Custom Pages Designer. There are three types of pages you can build:

Type

Description

Artifact table

Displays a list of items.

Artifact table and matrix

Displays a list of items alongside a heatmap of items.

Custom HTML

Displays the rendering of custom HTML code.

When published, these custom pages will appear in the navigation bar and can be rearranged.

Note

How are the Customer Pages Designer and the Blueprint Designer linked? To customize which items appear in a page, you need to select the corresponding blueprints in the Custom Pages Designer.
